Tips for Staying Healthy When You’re Busy

busymom.jpgLife can get busy really quickly, and it’s also super easy to get stuck in a routine that doesn’t include the best habits. We wake up, go to work, come home, sleep and repeat that same basic pattern every day. It’s hard to feel motivated to work out or eat healthy when the days start to feel the same and blur together. These tips can help you be more motivated and also help your days go better.

  1. Make time for exercise! If you don’t schedule a time for it and don’t make it a priority to work out, you’ll get too consumed in work and other priorities. It’s so important to be active and moving every day! (link to article about tips for staying active?)
  2. Eat breakfast. We’ve all heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do we really take that to heart? This article provides a basic overview of why that is and also some great tips for how to get a quick and healthy breakfast. It’s easy to walk out the door without eating when you’re late or busy, but it’s incredibly important to make sure to start the day with some breakfast.
  3. Hydrate! Drink lots of water. If this is difficult for you, get into the habit of carrying a water bottle around with you wherever you go. The visual reminder of a water bottle should help you remember to drink water.
  4. Stock up on simple and healthy snacks. If you get hungry between lunch and quitting time and end up at the vending machine, pack a healthy snack instead! Apples with peanut butter, almonds, carrot sticks, granola bars – all of these are a much healthier and cheaper alternative to the Snickers and Diet Coke from the vending machines.
  5. Stick to your sleep schedule. When we’re busy, the first thing to go is usually our sleep. We assume we can make it up later, so we stay up later and sleep less. This is so detrimental to you! Your body needs its sleep so it can recover and be its best self. (link to article on sleep tips)
