4 Ways to Keep Yourself Motivated

It can be hard to stay motivated in the middle of the winter. It’s cold outside, which makes getting out of bed, exercising, and going outside at all less and less appealing. We’ve found some tips and tricks to motivate yourself to continue towards your goal, as well as some quotes from successful athletes on motivation.

1. Set a SMART goal. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. When you set a SMART goal, you’re more likely to complete these goals, since they are planned out in more detail than just a dream or a wish.

2. Keep track of your progress and your goals. Though the day to day successes may not seem huge, it will feel good when you can look back at your progress and see how far you’ve come.

3. Find a buddy! When you have someone else working with you and holding you accountable it’s much easier for you to find a reason to continue towards your goal, instead of rationalizing with yourself about skipping one day.

4. Don’t be afraid to fail. It can be scary to realize that you might not do something right, but ultimately you can learn so much more from your mistakes than things you do right on the first try.
